Soil Microbial Interactions

Soil microorganisms play a significant role in determining how much carbon gets sequestered, as they can either respire carbon back into the atmosphere or contribute to its storage in the soil. This dynamic is influenced by several factors, including nutrient stoichiometry and the composition of microbial communities, which are shaped by various microbial interactions within the soil ecosystem. I am interested in studying these microbial interactions and the biological and environmental factors which influence them. This research will be conducted using an integrated approach combining novel culture-based methods with next-generation sequencing and deep learning tools.
